You have plenty of options if you’re in the market for a midsize crossover SUV. Geoff Penske Buick GMC carries one you may be interested in, the GMC Acadia. However, you may wonder: How does it compare to the Chevy Traverse? These dynamic, family-friendly rides perform well, offer sustainable comfort, and provide longevity. However, which one is better for Shillington, Reading, or Lancaster, PA, residents?

Let’s take a closer look at what makes these two crossover SUVs stand out in this GMC Acadia vs. Chevy Traverse comparison.

GMC ACADIA VS CHEVY TRAVERSE: BOLD AND HIGH-SPIRITED

In a world where adventure is around each corner, it’s key to be behind the wheel of a versatile vehicle ready to tackle anything. It’s here that the 2023 GMC Acadia and 2023 Chevy Traverse operate mostly equally—although there are some clear differences.

The Traverse includes a 3.6L V6 engine capable of producing 310 horsepower and 266 lb-ft of torque. Meanwhile, the Acadia also offers a 3.6L V6 engine, but with slightly more torque—271 lb-ft, to be exact. Nevertheless, both motors operate with a 9-speed automatic transmission, and offer generous fuel economy.

Still, the Chevy Traverse’s driving modes pale compared to the GMC Acadia’s Traction Select System. This standard feature includes driving modes for Normal, Snow, Sport, and Trailer/Tow. The Chevy Traverse only has Snow, Off-Road, and Tow/Haul driving modes.

There is plenty to love about the interior offerings of these crossover SUVs. Both GMC and Chevy offer an abundance of shared available features to amplify the driving experience, like a heated steering wheel, heated and ventilated front seats, and a hands-free power liftgate for easy loading and unloading.

The GMC Acadia shines with its refined interior, as well as its varying designs to choose from, depending on the trim you choose. Take, for instance, the Denali trim, which features real ash wood accents and warm-tone burnished aluminum trim.

The Chevy Traverse does offer customization inside. Take, for example, the available perforated leather-appointed front and second-row seating, or the available heated and ventilated seats for the driver and front passenger.

Nevertheless, the Acadia does move the needle a bit more in its favor, thanks to the visual appeal between its trims. The available black-leather appointed seating joins the aforementioned burnished aluminum trim with Kalahari accents in the AT4 trim.

If there’s one area the 2023 Acadia particularly showcases well, it’s the availability of several high-end safety technologies. Both crossover SUVs come standard with a rearview camera for ease of mind when driving in reverse.

However, the Acadia offers Lane Change Alert with Side Blind Zone Alert as a standard feature; this is only available as an upgrade with the Traverse. The same is true with GMC’s standard inclusion of a Rear Cross Traffic Alert system. This works hand in hand with the available HD Surround Vision camera.

It’s worth noting that several shared available features are included with both crossovers, including the Following Distance Indicator, Forward Collision Alert, and Front Pedestrian Braking. These features keep a close eye on your surroundings wherever you are.
