The GMC Sierra 1500 boasts four engine options to choose from. Three of these engines are gas and one is diesel.

The standard engine for the Sierra 1500 is the 2.7L Turbo, with 310 horsepower and 348 lb-ft of torque. It’s paired with the standard 8-speed automatic transmission.

If you’re looking for more torque than horsepower, the Duramax® 3.0L Turbo-Diesel engine might be right for you. It generates 277 horsepower and an impressive 460 lb-ft of torque.

The most powerful engine option ties the diesel engine for torque power. The available 6.2L EcoTec3 V8 engine has a whopping 420 horsepower and 460 lb-ft of torque when working with the 10-speed automatic transmission.

To help you customize your drive, the Sierra 1500 has a Traction Selection System that offers drive modes, like:

Towing and Payload Capacity

The Sierra 1500 does not mess around in terms of towing and payload capacity.

When properly equipped, the Sierra 1500 has a maximum towing capacity of 13,000 pounds.  You can tow boats and trailers, with this much power.

If you prefer to load up the truck bed, the Sierra 1500 is prepared for that as well. With a maximum payload capacity of 5,420 pounds, you can stock up on mulch, bricks, and whatever else you might plan on hauling.

The carbon fiber composite bed material helps keep your truck looking great. It’s resistant to scratches, dents, and corrosion.

Interior Features

The interior of the Sierra 1500 is both stylish and practical, so you can enjoy being inside your truck and have a great drive.

Cloth seat trim is standard; however, you can upgrade to perforated leather-trimmed seating, with available driver seat memory. You can also match the leather-trimmed seating with an available leather-wrapped steering wheel.

The Sierra 1500 has an outstanding infotainment system, too, so you can enjoy music and your favorite smartphone apps directly on your truck’s system. You can choose a 7-inch or 8-inch touchscreen display. Apple CarPlay™, Android Auto™, and Bluetooth® capability are all standard. You can also upgrade to in-vehicle navigation and HD Radio.

So you never have to look away from the road, the Sierra 1500 has an available 15-inch Head-Up Display. This feature projects important information onto the windshield, like directions, speed, and more.
