Both the Honda HR-V and the Buick Encore offer one standard engine. The Honda HR-V has an in-line 4-cylinder engine that puts out 141 horsepower and 127 lb-ft of torque. It comes with front-wheel drive, but you have the option of available all-wheel drive.

The Buick Encore offers more power and performance than the HR-V. The standard engine is an ECOTEC 1.4L Turbo engine that delivers 155 horsepower and 177 lb-ft of torque. The Encore has standard front-wheel drive with the option for available intelligent all-wheel drive.

The Buick Encore also has an additional standard feature to help with traction and stability control called StabiliTrak. This system enhances control by adjusting brakes and torque so your SUV will stay on your intended path.

Interior Tech

Like many vehicles on the road, today, the HR-V and the Encore come with plenty of tech to make drives easier and more entertaining.

The HR-V starts out with a 5-inch color LCD screen with Bluetooth® capability. At higher trim levels, you’ll get a 7-inch touch-screen and Apple CarPlay™ and Android Auto™ to use your favorite smartphone apps on your infotainment system.

The Buick Encore, on the other hand, hits the ground running with a standard 7-inch color touch-screen as part of its standard infotainment system at the first trim level. You can also enjoy Bluetooth® capability, Android Auto™, and Apple CarPlay™ immediately, while you’ll have to wait until higher trim levels in the HR-V.

The Encore allows you to stay connected to the internet, too, with its standard Wi-Fi® hotspot. You and your passengers won’t have to worry about running out of data with this hotspot in the Buick Encore.

Convenience Features

The Encore and the HR-V have a few features that stand out from the crowd to make your drives nicer and more convenient.

The HR-V has speed-sensitive volume control that adjusts the volume of your media as you drive so you can hear it over any road noise you encounter. You can also get into your vehicle without having to dig for your keys with keyless entry. Push button start allows you to start your car with the same ease.

The Encore has many similar convenience features. Unlock the doors and start your Encore with its own keyless open and start system. You can opt for Remote Access on your myBuick mobile app to unlock the doors and start the engine, too.

To keep road noise out of the cabin, the Encore offers standard QuietTuning™ technology. The Encore has triple door seals and acoustic laminated glass in the windshield to block, lessen, and absorb road noise.
