2022 GMC Terrain Review
Are you on the hunt for a compact SUV that can handle the roads of Shillington, Reading, and Lancaster, Pennsylvania, and the off-roading trails? Then the 2022 GMC Terrain might be the SUV for you.
Geoff Penske Buick GMC has put together this 2022 GMC Terrain review so you can get an idea of what this SUV is about. Read on to learn about the Terrain’s performance, interior dimensions, and safety features!
Performance and All-Terrain Capability
The 2022 GMC Terrain has one engine across all its trim levels. The standard 1.5L Turbo 4-cylinder engine offers plenty of power, with 170 horsepower and 203 lb-ft of torque. To help conserve fuel, the engine has standard Automatic Stop/Start tech, which shuts off your engine when your vehicle is stopped and restarts when you take your foot off the brake.
If you’re interested in off-roading, the Terrain has available all-wheel drive. Combine this with the standard Traction Select System, and you can customize your drive to the environment. This includes an off-road mode designed to improve traction and stability on dirt, gravel, and sand.
The available skid plate protects the underside of the Terrain, while standard Hill Descent Control allows you to go down steep hills with control and ease.
Cargo Space and Interior Dimensions
The Terrain is a compact SUV that still has plenty of space for passengers and cargo. With all the passenger seats down, you can fit objects up to eight feet long! All this cargo space equates to 63.3 cubic feet. That’s a new rug for the living room or some furniture you’ve had your eye on.
You can fit the whole family inside the Terrain. It seats five, and with 40.9 inches of legroom in the front row, even your tallest family members can get comfortable. The second row has room for a long-legged family too, with 39.7 inches.
If you’re on a long road trip, you don’t have to worry about people feeling cramped with 54.4 inches of hip room in the front and 51.8 inches in the second row.

Safety and Driver-Assistive Features
The 2022 GMC Terrain keeps you safe while you’re on the go with standard driver-assistive and safety features that are part of the GMC Pro Safety suite. Some of these standard features on all trims include:
- Following Distance Indicator: This feature lets you know how far you are from the car ahead of you so you can decide if you’re too close.
- Forward Collision Alert: This feature warns you if a potential front-end collision might happen so you can brake or take action.
- Lane Keep Assist with Lane Departure Warning: This system monitors your position within your lane and lets you know if you begin to drift. If needed, the system can help correct the drift.
